Today we looked at nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We sorted some words and then constructed sentences using all 4 word types. We then quizzed our partner by asking them to find these words in our sentences.
This week we have had lots of fun doing some Easter crafts. We have made Pom Pom bunnies and chicks, envelope bunny bags, 3D shape bunnies and nest cakes.
Today we have been learning about Vincent Van Gogh. We looked at his painting of sunflowers, as we are growing some ourselves in Science. We then used mixed media to recreate it.
For indoor PE this half term we are doing some cheerleading. We tried different moves and then put a little routine together with our group. We had to listen carefully to the beat and count in groups of 8.
Today we learnt how to use a counting stick in maths. We chose a start and finish number and then challenged our partner to work out a number in the middle.
This week we have been learning about Aboriginal art as part of our project on Australia. We looked at the symbols they used and then designed and painted our own. #abbotsart
This week we are learning about fractions. Today we learnt about fractions of shapes. We cut some cakes into halves and then quarters. Then we ate them!
We have been learning about Captain Cook and his journey to Australia. We looked at some of the animals he discovered. We compared the animal he found to what we have here. We sorted some pictures of sea creatures into ones he would have recognised and those that would have been new to him.
We have been investigating which materials would be best for making a rain coat out of. We stretched the materials over a cup and dropped water on. We tested plastic, tissue, paper towel and foil. We then rubbed a wax crayon over the paper towel to see if this made a difference.
