If you would like to do some pre-teaching at home with your child we will be looking at the following areas this half term in maths: directions (giving and following, including positional language), adding and subtracting (including place value), using money, and we will be re-visiting 3D shapes and time. We are also focusing on problem solving and choosing which operation to use.
This term our topic is Castles. This week we have been learning about the features of a castle. We made some out of bricks. Look at this great castle complete with turrets, moat and drawbridge!
This week we have been learning about symmetry in maths. We made symmetrical butterflies by painting half and then folding them.
In Literacy this week we read the book Handa’s Hen. We then pretended that Barnaby had gone missing in the woods and we went to search for him, thinking about all the animals we might see on the way. Then we wrote our own stories. Here we are finding a wiggly slimy worm under a damp log.
